Newsome Raceway Parts Weekly Racing Series Late Models Week 8 Round Up

ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Week 8 of the 2020 Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series is complete and two familiar faces remain atop the standings, as Russellville, AL brother Bryson and Braden Mitchell sit one and two respectively following their top ten finish at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL. A driver that continues to make up ground with two less races of record is Spring Hill, TN driver Brad Skinner who visited victory lane at Duck River Raceway Park to settle in at third after eight weeks of action.

Fourth in the standings is Josh Amacher who took at top ten at Tennessee National Raceway in Hohenwald, TN to keep his string of solid runs alive, and fifth is Hattieburg, MS driver Jeremy Idom who scored another top ten during Saturday night competition at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS. Tootie Arnold grabbed the checkered flag at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, MS to settle in at sixth in the standings, ahead of second place finisher at Jackson Sid Scarbrough who is seventh in the current standings.

Oakley Gillespie comes in at eighth currently after a third-place finish at North Alabama Speedway, with Talladega Short Track regular Mike Combs sitting in ninth after his fourth place finish at the “Hornet’s Nest”. Rounding out the top ten in points is 2019 National Champion Shannon Lee who did not see action during week 8 with both of his “home” tracks Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS and Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, MS falling victim to rain outs.

Week 8 action also saw feature wins from National Touring Late Model Series regular TJ Brittain who took the win at Talladega Short Track on Saturday night, and Oakley Johns who sits just outside the top ten in points with four wins to his name already in 2020. Travis Steele was the big winner during action at “The Place Your Mama Warned You About”, Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, SC, and Patrik Daniel was the victor in Local DFW Series action at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Texas. Matthew Brocato grabbed his first win of 2020 Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL to settle in the top 25 in points, and will look to keep that streak going as the King of Crate event at NAS will approach for the Touring Division at the end of August.
