NEWSOME RACEWAY PARTS WEEKLY RACING SERIES LATE MODEL SPORTSMAN WEEK 7 ROUND UP

ADAIRSVILLE, GA – The Mitchell brothers, Bryson and Braden, of Russellville, AL remain atop the point standings following Week 7 action for the Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Late Models. Bryson drove his 46 machine to victory on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL while brother Braden finished in 8th to remain first and second respectively in points.

Brad Skinner of Spring Hill, TN finished second at Thunderhill Raceway Park in Summertown, TN to settle in at third in the current point standings. Stephen Brantley took the win at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL to move solidly into fourth while Josh Amacher took a fifth-place finish at Thunderhill Raceway Park to slide into the fifth spot in national points.

D.G. Hawkins used a second-place finish at Deep South Speedway putting him in sixth currently in national points. Sid Scarbrough visited victory lane on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, MS, and had a fifth-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS which helped elevate him into the seventh spot.

Mike Combs, Week 6 Winner at Talladega Short Track, followed up with a fifth-place finish in Week 7 to reside in eighth nationally. Willie McElhiney used a top 10 finish at Thunderhill Raceway Park to add to his great 2020 season and sit ninth, while Oakley Gillespie finished seventh at North Alabama Speedway to round out the top 10 in national points.

Other news in Week 7 includes big wins for drivers like Jeremy Shaw in the 1s Steele’s Dive sponsored mount who took another victory at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS on Saturday night. Scott Ladner bested a strong field for his first win of 2020 at Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, MS. Oakley Johns picked up the win at Thunderhill Raceway Park in a “tune up” of the upcoming King of the Hill National Tour event in August.

David Kay parked his K5 machine in Talladega Short Track victory lane during Saturday night action. 2019 National Champion Shannon Lee was victorious during Friday night action at Hattiesburg Speedway. The newest sanctioned speedways for 2020, Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, LA and Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, SC had great car counts as David Winslett visited victory lane at Boothill Speedway and John Ruggiero took the checkers at Cherokee Speedway capping a great weekend of action.

Drivers in the Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series Late Model Division will compete for both a weekly point fund and a National point fund over a 22 Week season that runs through November 1. A driver will count his best 11 weekly point races for their National point total.
